The Lake area has been missing a wine bar with a nice relaxing inside spot. There are a few things that indicate they haven't quite hit their stride yet, but overall this is an excellent addition to the area.
We visited Easy Street last Friday night, arriving maybe 6:30 for dinner. I think when we checked online, we saw they are only open until 8 PM, which seemed off for a wine/dessert bar, but don't we found out from the waitress they stay open way later if they have customers. The kitchen does close at 8, apparently, with desserts still available.
The building is a former motel and has several rooms, each with its own vibe from bright and cheery to quiet and romantic. There are several clusters of comfy chairs which are great for having a glass with friends, but since we planned on ordering dinner, we wanted a regular table and chairs. After we ate, we migrated to the comfy chairs for dessert and another glass. Thankfully the crowd was pretty sparse, so we had out pick.
They have a very nice wine selection along with a couple of meat and cheese trays and a handful of entre selections. We tried a chicken pasta and chicken Caesar. Both of these were excellent and priced reasonably, especially considering the quality. Our daughter was along, so we were very please to see a kids menu - kind of rare for a place like this - but they were pretty kid friendly.
The wine pours were very generous, probably 8 or 9 oz pours every time, and the wines by the glass are cheap by wine bar standards. We enjoyed the $7 glasses just fine. The waitress was very helpful and of course offered samples.
We had a chance to talk to the manager too. Everyone was very friendly. One of the nice features is that Netflix is available, so we happened to find a spot where we could select our own movie. On the downside, we couldn't really turn it up loud enough to hear well due to a large party in the next room.
They are open for breakfast at 8 AM, so we'll probably give them a try in the near future. Until then, this is definitely our go to wine bar at the Lake.
